How to Use Dictionary on the iPhone and iPad

One or the other time we have a need to use the Dictionary for some of the words, especially smart phone world its very hard to open up a dictionary to know the meaning of something when you are reading any thing.


Here is the simple tip on how you can use the Dictionary on your iPhone or iPad right from where you are reading.
  • Open your browser or even on your Notes taking Application and wondering you needed to use Dictionary for a specific word, and just select that word and look for "Define"




  • Once you Click on Define You will be taken to the Dictionary Preview mode with meaning of the selected word. 


  • In case if you don't have a Dictionary available on your smart phone or if your Dictionary is not working after iOS update, OR you are getting "No Definition found" ? you can fix it with few simple clicks. 


  • To add or to Change the Dictionary you are using on your iPhone , simply click on "Manage" button right from the same screen and select the Dictionary you desired to use and thats it , you are ready to use.

Battery life after iOS7, Tips to Save Battery on iPhone



Awaiting iOS7 has been Officially released to all the Compatible devices of Apple. Ofcourse iOS7 is soo neat and yeah sexy :) 


As per Apple iOS7 has been optimized to increase the Battery life, Well there are many folks facing Battery Drain issues on the iPhone 4s/5 .  


Here are some simple clicks where you can improve some of the features with out losing the key features of the iOS7. 



  • Disable Background App Refresh:  It's one of the feature contributes to suck the Batter life. To Disable it, Goto Settings --> General --> Background App Refresh 


  • Disable iAds:  If you are not too fancy about getting location based Ad's , Disable it to save some Batter.  To disable it, goto Settings --> Privacy --> Location Services --> System Services 


  • Disable Reduce Motion:  This feature will reduce the motion of the User interface , icons and alerts.. You can save some more by disabling it. by navigating to Settings --> General --> Accessibility --> Reduce Motion


  • Turn off unused Location Services : yeah, we need Location Services to be enabled for better user experience of iPhone, But we can same some battery life by disable Location Services for the Apps which we don't use often.


  • Finally, By Turning off Bluetooth, Wi-fi , Air Drop when we are not using with just one swipe .

How to close Background Apps on iOS7 ?


To get a better battery life as well as better performance for iPhone, its always advisable to close the Background running Apps on iPhone. 

Up to iOS6 , when you double click on home button it will give you little "x" option on each application to close the Apps, Its little different on iOS7. 

You may also like : Save Battery Life after iOS7 update.


  1. Double click Home button on iOS7 installed iPhone and you will see Back ground Running Apps like below.


  2. Select the application you wanted to close and swipe Upwards, like below.


  3. Also, we can close Three Applications at same time, Just place your 3 fingers on 3 Applications and swipe upwards at same time.

How to Upgrade to iOS7 NOW ?


Apple has announced its official release of iOS7 is September 18th 2013, But if you are curious and wanted to install the final version, here is it , You don't need to be a developer to install this. Thanks to Lifehacker.

Update: I personally upgraded by phone to iOS7 and it looks cool.

Backup First: Before you do anything, it's always advisable to backup first to iCloud incase you wanted to revert back.

Note: iOS 7 requires a later version of iTunes so you may not be able to use your iDevice with iTunes post-update (at least, not until Apple releases the new version or you install the beta).

How to Install:

  • Open up the disk image (.dmg) and copy it to your local disk
  • Connect your iphone/ipad to iTunes.
  • Hold down the option key (OS X) or the shift key (Windows) and click the Restore button. Browse to the .ipsw file you downloaded, select it, and wait for the update to finish.
  • If necessary, Restore your device from backup and sync with iTunes.

Once the process is completed, you should be on iOS 7 version of OS.
